Saratoga Surprise

I had the pleasure of photographing this amazing home in upstate NY for Buffalo Lumber. Situated on a large horse farm, it has quite an amazing outdoor patio space. Images were taken with everything from a 10mm wide angle lens to my drone several hundred feet from above.

Video & Volleyball

I had the pleasure of spending the day at The Great American Volleyball DAG Juniors event in Seaside Heights NJ this weekend. It's a charity event with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society and The Beauty Foundation. Perfect weather, great people and an interesting perspective from the Seaside's chairlift made it a great day to shoot promotional video for them...and I snuck a few stills in too .

Top Gear

There have been so many times when I NEED a piece of photo equipment only to have it sit unused in my camera bag . I usually realize my mistake right after the 30-day return policy expires.

On the other hand, I have also purchased gear that has become worth its weight in gold. Here's a few examples:

Manfrotto 166 Utility Apron - I can't imagine not having this apron on my tripod. It is a catch-all for lens caps, filters, batteries, my phone, lenses...anything. It's a brilliant use of space and you can even load it up with rocks for more stability.

Giottos Rocket Air Blaster Air Blower

This small invention single-handedly killed the canned air business. It works great, blows dust from every crevice and doesn't end up in a landfill.

CamRanger Wireless Camera Controller

Plug it into your camera, download the app and your images are instantly transferred to your iPad. The only people that love this more than me are my clients!  Nobody wants to stand cheek-to-cheek looking at your 2-inch screen. Plus, besides seeing the photos, you have complete control over shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, focus and can remotely click the shutter or watch Liveview.

Hope you you like the tips, I'll add more soon.  What's your favorite gear?

Not-Fine Print

Be careful when entering photo contests!

Since I was recently granted my FAA drone license, I've received spam from a bunch of photo contests. I was about to submit to one before reading the following rules:

Photographing The Willow School For Mitsubishi Electric

Last week, I had the pleasure of photographing the nation's second greenest school for Mitsubishi Electric.

The Willow School in Gladstone, NJ generates uses 70% less energy than a comparable school, is made of reusable materials, and collects rain water. Hopefully our grand kids will go to a similar school.
